Rugby League - New deal for Wardle

The 21-year-old, who has scored 30 tries in 57 appearances since joining the Giants from Bradford, had a little more than 12 months left on his current deal but was happy to pledge his future to the club.

“It gives me and my family some security,” Wardle said. “The way the club has progressed over the past few years and the way it continues to progress with wanting to win things, it would be stupid to want to be anywhere else.

“I am sure that my best years are ahead of me. I will continue to try my best and improve and hopefully I will continue to play because of that.

“We are putting a good squad together now and, if we can stay together, then we can continue pushing for titles. Hopefully we can continue winning and then the silverware will follow.”

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson said: “Joe has matured as player since his arrival at the club and, as he is only 21, I believe that his best years are still ahead of him.”
