A weekend of upsets and surprise results made up what was another great weekend of VB NSW Cup action.
But first we head back to last Wednesday night when at ANZ Stadium, the VB NSW Cup Rep side came back from 10-0 down early to defeat the QLD Residents side 22-18. First half tries to Corrigan and Mantellato saw the boys head to the sheds with a two point lead and then second half tries to Williams and Clark saw them grip on for a gutsy win.

Down in the nationâs capital, it was Mounties, for the first time in the clubs history, playing a match out of Canberra Stadium, and they did not disappoint their fans as they registered a convincing 28-16 win over the second placed Knights. A match played in torrid conditions with heavy rain and even hail littering the playing field at times, was highlighted by a great Mounties team performance that saw them run in five tries to three.

At Henson Park it was another double header with the first match on the day throwing up a somewhat surprising result with the Illawarra Cutters holding the high flying Sharks to a 16-16 draw. A match that saw neither team lead by more than a try, came right down to the wire, however as the full time siren sounded, the two teams couldnât be separated.

The second part of the double header saw the home side Jets spot the visiting Vulcans a 14 point start in the first half only to run home over the top of the visitors courtesy of doubles to Ryley Jacks and Adam Henry to win 40-26. Undoubtedly the biggest upset of the weekend came in the clash between the Bulldogs and Wolves at the Belmore Sports Ground when the bottom of the table Dogs scored a late try to knock off the then top four Windsor Wolves 32-30. An Eto Nabuli hat trick appeared as though it would be enough for the visitors however late tries to Keating and Thompson handed the Dogs a much deserved win.

The final match of Round 19 saw the Tigers head up the coast to face the Wyong Roos and it was a classic tale of two halves with the visitors dominating the first forty minutes and the home side doing likewise in the second. Playing some great football, the Tigers headed to the sheds with a 26-0 lead at half time, but then after scoring first in the second half, the Tigers were largely overrun by the home team and had they capitalised on a few missed chances, they may have pulled off a most unlikely comeback.
