Rugby League - Morley targets multiple trophies

The Wolves are just a point behind Huddersfield in Super League after winning their last seven matches and go into Sunday’s second Tetley’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Hull as clear favourites to reach Wembley for a fourth time in five years.

“This year has been a bit stop-start and it’s only the last couple of months that we’ve really got a lot of confidence under our belt,” said Morley, who was out for three months earlier in the year with a ruptured bicep.

“We’ve players coming back fit as well so there’s really healthy competition for places, which is what you need. We’re sitting pretty, without being too cocky, and hopefully we can kick on and raise the bar even further.

“We went very close to winning the Grand Final last year and we’ve virtually the same squad so that’s not out of our reach. Even the league leaders shield is a possibility after (Wigan’s defeat on) Monday night.

“We want to win every game we go into. Last year we learnt a lot of lessons and hopefully they will be beneficial and we can do the double or treble.”

Morley returns to the side on Sunday, along with Stefan Ratchford, Simon Grix, Ben Westwood and Paul Wood, who were all rested for last Sunday’s 34-6 Super League win over Hull KR.

Warrington could also have England scrum-half Richie Myler back after missing their last four matches with a knee injury, which would leave centre Ryan Atkins as their only absentee.

Hull have lost leading try-scorer Ben Crooks with an ankle injury but have stand-off Daniel Holdsworth back from a calf injury and he could play a key role as the Black and Whites seek to repeat their 26-16 victory over the Wolves at the Halliwell Jones stadium two months ago.

Hull coach Peter Gentle insists his players can take genuine encouragement from their league win over the Wolves but admits the odds are stacked against his side.

“There are things we did pretty well in that game – things that we haven’t done since – but they’re not unbeatable, that’s what we can take from that game,” Gentle said. “They’ve obviously improved a lot since then, as well, so we’re going to be underdogs.

“Our form is not terrific and we’re up against the form team of the competition. We’re expecting no-one to give us a chance but within our walls there is a belief that we can cause an upset.”
