Rugby: England ready to roar in next World Cup says Sir Clive Woodward

The man who led England to global glory ten years ago believes the Northern Hemisphere’s teams are ready to dominate the tournament in two years’ time.

Woodward said: “I reckon 2015 will be a great tournament and I believe the Lions have set up the World Cup.

“Some of the individual play for the Lions, especially Sam Warburton, was just amazing.

“They showed in Australia that the Northern Hemisphere is in fantastic shape to compete and win the trophy in two years’ time.

“England’s group is very competitive. They have two absolutely massive games in their World Cup group against Wales and Australia.

“But Wales have some very good players who proved themselves with the Lions.

“They may not have the strength in depth of England but their strongest 15 is a match for any team in the world.

“If the Welsh manage to get their best team on the pitch they are potential winners.

“But England should be really confident. They have a bunch of good players and you can see they have a good chance of doing something special at the next World Cup.”
