Rugby Union: No soft underbelly, we just need to take more Care!

“It’s just great to be back in the England 9 shirt. I hope I can get a few more games. I love it. Any time you put on an England shirt it’s a massive honour. But it doesn’t really matter how I played if we didn’t get the win.”

Care, 27, has won more than half his 43 caps off the bench. He made only one appearance in the England XV last year and was dropped from the match squad for all the November Tests.

If ever there was a case for leaving a player on, Care provided it. But with his departure England lost energy and momentum and, having almost emptied the bench, eventually lost the game as well.

Wing Jonny May is out of the Scotland game after lasting only eight minutes in Paris with a broken nose. Lock Courtney Lawes’ cheekbone injury turns out to be merely bruising and, according to the England management, he will be fit to face the Scots.
