RUGBY UNION: Despair for Allan as Scotalnd snatch win

Tommy Allan’s joy turned to despair as his Italy team had victory snatched from their grasp in the last minute against Scotland.

Duncan Weir, the Scotland fly half. landed a last-gasp drop goal to earn a dramatic 21-20 victory.

His opposite number, Scotish-born Allan, a former pupil of the European School, Culham, scored 13 points including his first international try as Italy led 13-3 at the break.

But Greig Laidlaw scored two penalties and centre Alex Dunbar two tries to put Scotland 18-13 ahead.

The Azzurri hit back just moments later when Sergio Parisse played in lock Joshua Furno to score a try in the corner, which was converted by Luciano Orquera.

That edged Italy back in front. but there was just time left for Weir to make himself a hero with his 40-yard drop goal.
