Sydney Roosters captain Anthony Minichiello had two trophies to hold after his team won the World Cup Challenge rugby league match on the weekend.

The 33-year-old footballer proudly held his almost three-month-old daughter Azura on the field after the Roosters beat English Super League team Wigan in the pre-season game in Sydney.

Minichiello posted a photo to Instagram of the special moment the first-time father, nicknamed ‘Mini’ held his very own mini-me at a game.

‘#Great #moment having my little girl watching her first ever game of rugby league,’ the clearly besotted dad captioned the pic.

Anthony’s wife Terry Biviano gave birth to Azura Tresor on December 2 last year.

The Australian and international rugby league player recently told The Australian that becoming a father was ‘the best thing that ever happened to me’.

‘People always say, ‘wait until you have a kid, it’s the best feeling ever’, and you always say, ‘yeah, yeah, it will be’, but then you don’t really get it until it happens,’ Minichiello said.

‘It is so true … it is the best feeling ever,’ ‘Mini’, who’s been married to shoe designer Biviano for two years, confessed.

The handsome player said he’d reveled in the opportunity to bond with his baby in the weeks after her birth.

‘It was great timing for us because I got back from the World Cup and had six or seven weeks off, which gave me time to spend with the family and just hang out and do nothing.

‘I just got away from footy and got to see all those special moments that come when you have a baby.’

Minichiello was recently honoured by being made the official face of the NRL 2014 season.

The proud family man will be the poster-boy of the game alongside recently appointed ambassador Jessica Mauboy.

While players who have previously held the position have found themselves embroiled in off-field drama, this year’s choice is unlikely to cause any controversy for the NRL.
