Wales will be keeping a close eye on the Scarlets’ match against Munster this weekend as Jonathan Davies is set to start.

Davies has played just 40 minutes since injuring himself in the opening match of the November Tests against South Africa. With Scott Williams out for the rest of the season, Wales’ resources in the centres have been severely depleted but Davies could be fast-tracked back into the side in time to face England on March 9.

“He worked really hard to get himself fit to potentially make the start of the Six Nations tournament,” Scarlets boss Simon Easterby said. “Following medical advice we were happy to play him against London Irish and despite coming through that initial 40 minutes of rugby it’s good that he took a break and didn’t try to keep on going.

“Jon accepted that you’ve got to get it right before coming back and he’s in a better place now.”
