Gloucester Rugby: Shaun Edwards linked with Kingsholm move

GLOUCESTER have been linked with a move for Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards.

The former Great Britain rugby league great has been part of the Welsh set-up since 2008, having previously spent 10 years with London Wasps.

Now he is weighing up an offer to join the Cherry and Whites on a part-time basis, alongside his international commitments.

Both Gloucester and the Welsh Rugby Union refused to be drawn on the possibility of Edwards assiting at Kingsholm.

A Gloucester spokesman said: “As per club policy we will not comment on speculation.”

But at a fans forum earlier this month, director of rugby Nigel Davies admitted there would be changes to the coaching staff in the summer.

He said: “There will be change across the board moving forward. It’s a very delicate issue, there’s still a long part of the season to go and I don’t want to make too many statements.

“During the constant reviews I’ve had to look at everything from myself down.”

The Cherry and Whites currently have the third worst defensive record in the Premiership and have conceded more points than all but basement boys Worcester Warriors. Paul Moriarty is currently in charge of Gloucester’s defence.
