Ex-Cross Keys, Newport and Wales rugby league star Cliff Williams dies

FORMER Cross Keys and Newport RFC scrum-half and Wales rugby league international Cliff Williams has died.
Williams, from Abercarn, joined Newport RFC In October 1965 having previously played for and captained Cross Keys.
David Watkinsâ scrum-half partner Bob Prosser had gone north and Williams made his Newport debut in October 1964 against Wasps.
He played 31 games for the Black Ambers that season, scoring five tries, before going north to Hunslet RL. He later played for Batley and represented Wales in rugby league.
A statement from Newport RFC said: “The club was saddened to hear of the death of former Newport scrum-half Cliff Williams and sends condolences to the family at this sad time.”
