Sharon Lynch is the only uncapped player in the squad
Ireland head coach Philip Doyle has called up Sharon Lynch to the squad for the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup in France.
The uncapped Old Belvedere forward is part of a 26-woman squad for the tournament taking place between 1-17 of August.
Fiona Coghlan continues as captain, while scrum-half Amy Davis is ruled out through injury.
Ireland begin their campaign against USA on 1 August, and they also face New Zealand and Kazakhstan in Pool B.
TG4 have confirmed they are to broadcast Ireland’s pool games live as well as both semi-finals and finals. Ireland’s game against New Zealand will be televised live on Sky Sports.
“Women’s rugby is at an all-time high in Ireland and with that comes great expectation”
Doyle said:Â “We have just come off the back of three weekends of intensive training and unfortunately we had to cut the squad to just 26 players which has been difficult.
“Women’s rugby is at an all-time high in Ireland and with that comes great expectation. We are well placed for the tournament and are all looking forward to heading to France and getting started.â
