Shoulder injury scare for new Bath Rugby recruit Sam Burgess

Incoming Bath Rugby ace Sam Burgess has allayed fears over his injured shoulder amid fears he could be set for a lengthy absence.

Rugby League superstar Burgess agreed a cross-code deal with Bath back in February and will head to The Rec from South Sydney Rabbitohs after the culmination of the Australian NRL season in September.

England international Burgess, 25, suffered a shoulder injury in the Rabbitohs’ 34-18 victory over Canberra Raiders on Monday and there were initial fears that it would end his season prematurely.

However, after undergoing scans Burgess revealed via Twitter that he had not suffered any serious damage.

No timescale has been given on Burgess’ possible absence and the Rabbitohs’ medical staff are hopeful he will be fit for their next match against Newcastle Knights in Cairns on Sunday.
