THE company behind Blackthorn Cider has decided to end its sponsorship agreements with Bristol City, Bristol Rovers and Bristol Rugby.
It brings to an end one of the longest-running sponsorship deals in the area by the Shepton Mallet Cider Mill.
John Edwards, Marketing Director for The Shepton Mallet Cider Mill, said: âAs a business located in and committed to the South West, we would like to thank everyone connected with the clubs, especially the fans, for their support of Blackthorn Cider and to wish them every success in the future.”
Bristol Sport, which oversees all aspects of commercial operations for Bristol City and Bristol Rugby, thanked the drinks company for its involvement. Andrew Billingham, Chief Executive of Bristol Sport said: âWe have had a tremendously good relationship with Blackthorn over the last few years and thank them for their support. As Bristol Rugby move to Ashton Gate and the stadium rebuild begins it is a time of exciting changes and opportunity.â
Bristol Rovers stadium manager Ian Holtby said: “We would like to thank Blackthorn for their support over the last ten years. We have always enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the company and wish them every success in the future.”
Blackthorn will also continue its partnership with Bristol-born darts star Steve ‘The Bomber’ Brown. This will see the return for a second year of The Blackthorn Bomber’s Challenge tournament, taking place in pubs across Bristol and beyondâ
