Rugby union: Knights host Plymouth; Titans take on London

Doncaster Knights and Rotherham Titans have both received their tough schedules ahead of the new season in September.

Newly-promoted Knights play Plymouth in their opening fixture before travelling to Jersey to face a team that narrowly avoided relegation on the last day of last season.

However they then take on newly-relegated Worcester Warriors before travelling to their first derby game of the season against Yorkshire Carnegie, previously known as Leeds Carnegie, in a difficult end to the opening month.

Rotherham will endure a difficult opening to the season as they travel to face London Scottish who have signed well after their fifth place finish last season and will be well placed to challenge for promotion this time around.

Titans then play Bedford away before their first home fixture comes in the third game of the season against Plymouth.

Titans coach Lee Blackett remains focused on getting his side ready for a positive start to the season despite the tricky away trips to negotiate early on.

“We started pre-season training this week. The emphasis is not on the fixture list but on getting in the right condition to start the season successfully,” he said.

The two South Yorkshire sides will clash in the first of two derby games at Castle Park over the first weekend of 2015. The return fixture at Clifton lane will be on April 11.

Rotherham end the season on April 25 at home to London Scottish as Doncaster travel to Plymouth.
