ECCLESHALL have turned to a familiar face to lead the club into a new era.
The Baden Hall-based side finished in mid-table in Midlands West North last season under the guidance of coach Steve Teasdale.
However, after three years in the role, he has decided to step down, with Eccleshall replacing him with Steve Dolphin.
Dolphin was in charge of the club when they won promotion to their current level in 2011 – and it is hoped he can mastermind another successful campaign during the forthcoming season.
Since leaving Eccleshall, Dolphin has coached Newport in National League Three Midlands, and also led Shropshire to the North Midlands Championship last season.
Eccleshall, who report back for pre-season training on Tuesday, are targeting moving up the leagues at both first and second XV level.
It is also hoped that they can re-establish their third team for the 2014/15 season to build on club development.
Dolphin has recruited former Eccleshall fly-half Stuart Davies as his assistant, while Jamie Watt, who used to captain the club, will coach the forwards.
Nick Hulse will continue to captain the first team next term, while Mikey Wilshaw is taking over second-team duties from David Trigg.
Club chairman Tim West said: “It’s great to have Dolph back, having coached us to promotion in 2011.
“He’s spent a number of years coaching at a higher level and we very much hope he will bring all the knowledge has learned to the benefit of all who play for Eccleshall.
“It’s also great that he has appointed two former Eccleshall players to his coaching team to lead, along with our captains, what we hope is an upturn in our fortunes.
“We have a young side, many of whom have come through our outstanding junior section, and we are looking forward to a successful season across our club.”
Pre-season training at Baden Hall starts at 7pm on Tuesday and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday until the start of the season on September 13.
