ACT Brumbies’ director of rugby Laurie Fisher has been linked with Gloucester Rugby’s vacant head coach role.

Fisher is rumoured to be leaving the Canberra club to become Gloucester’s head coach at the end of the Super Rugby season.

The former Munster forwards coach said that he wasn’t in a position to “deny or confirm” the speculation, and that no contract had yet been signed.

He coached the Brumbies from 2005 to 2008 and in his director of rugby role played a key part of the club’s revival which led to the club reach the Super Rugby finals in 2013.

The reports of Fisher’s impending move mark a period of change at Kingsholm, with former Bath back Nick Walshe and John Muggleton joining the coaching team, and David Humphreys appointed as director of rugby.
