CHINNOR have added Gloucester academy player Reece Boughton and London Irish Wild Geese’s Ed Keohane to their quickly expanding squad.

Scrum half Boughton, who turns 19 on July 1, has joined from the Aviva Premiership club.

Fly half Keohane, 24, who has previously played for Henley Hawks, will bolster director of rugby Matt Williams’s options, with Will Millett leaving for Loughborough University.

Boughton featured in the LV= Cup for Gloucester last season as well as playing 13 times for Cinderford in National 1.

He said: “At my age I want to start as much as I can, not sit and watch.

“Gloucester dual-registered me to Cinderford and I loved playing there. In fact I could have stayed this coming season.

“But the thought of hooking up with a few of my Gloucester buddies and the likes of Alfie To’oala was too appealing.”

Williams added: “Reece is a good all-round nine with a particularly good left peg, both out of hand and off the floor.

“He has turned down a couple of Championship clubs as well as several National 1 teams to come to Chinnor.

“His attitude is impressive and he knows what he wants – to play rugby.

“He will also add goal-kicking options.”

Originally from Maidenhead, Keohane impressed for Wild Geese in National 2 South last season, having played for North Otago in New Zealand last summer.

“I am excited to be linking up with so many talented players and I hope I can take my game to the next level at Chinnor,” he said.

“Playing next to Junior Fatialofa is an exciting proposition.”

Williams added: “Ed is a versatile player who is equally happy with ball in hand at 15 or controlling a backline from ten.

“He led a very good back division at our place in April and who could forget the massive drop goal he struck?

“Ed also offers a huge place-kick range.”
