Aviva Premiership Rugby Final Rerun

Today a shortlist has been revealed for the prestigious All Party Parliamentary Rugby Union Group Premiership Rugby Community Awards and the shortlist for the Community Impact Award supported by Aviva sees Aviva Premiership Rugby Finalists Northampton Saints and Saracens pitted against each other again. The award celebrates the great work Premiership Rugby clubs do in the local community across all of their programmes.

“Aviva are delighted to sponsor the Community Impact Award. Premiership Rugby clubs Northampton Saints and Saracens have both been shortlisted, which is a testament to the great work they both do within the community,” said Nick Gibbs, Aviva Sponsorship Manager.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the presentations from both clubs before the judging panel selects the winner. Good luck to both clubs.”

The awards, now in their ninth year, feature four different categories: the Play Award supported by the All Party Parliamentary Rugby Union Group, the BreakThru Award supported by TNT Express, the Community Impact Award supported by Aviva and, new for 2014, the Community Champion Award supported by Land Rover.

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Rugby Union Group in the prestigious Members’ Dining Room at the House of Commons on 3 July. The awards will be attended by a number of MPs, commercial partners and Rugby World Cup winner Jason Robinson.

One of the judges for the award, The Supporters Club senior commercial manager David Rowley, admits he was left hugely impressed by the standard of entries.

“It really illustrates every club’s commitment to community work,” he said. “It’s humbling to see how much of an impact they are having and the breadth of programmes they have to offer.

“From schoolchildren to middle-aged men, girls and young people not in education, employment or training, what strikes me is that so many aspects of the community are being reached.”

Please contact Sophie Moss or Paul Morgan if you would like to attend the awards on 3 July. To find out more about Premiership Rugby’s community work, please visit premiershiprugby.com/community.
