BRISTOL Rugby have secured the signing of Millfield School captain Callum Sheedy on a two-year academy contract.

The 18-year-old fly-half is highly regarded – and Bristol had to see off a number of Aviva Premiership clubs in order to capture the playmaker.

Bristol academy manager Mike Hall said: “Callum’s skill-set and the way he wants to play the game are an excellent match to how we are looking to develop our style of rugby in the coming seasons.

“It made sense to bring Callum in to be part of the academy. It’s an excellent opportunity for him to further his development.

“The coaches at Millfield speak very highly of him and we believe Callum has the attributes to be successful in the professional game.”

Sheedy added: “I’m delighted to sign my first professional contract with Bristol Rugby – I believe this is the ideal environment to continue my progression and develop as a player.

“I’m excited to link up with the squad in the summer and I’m looking forward to working hard and gaining valuable experience from the senior guys around me.”

Bristol have signed a number of prospects from Millfield in recent seasons, notably Mako Vunipola and Marco Mama.
