BRISTOL Rugby have completed the signing of Bristolian hooker Chris Brooker from Worcester Warriors on a two-year deal.

The switch had been widely reported, with Sky Sports co-commentator Rory Lawson claiming on air during Bristol’s win at Moseley earlier this month that Brooker was on his way to the club.

The 27-year-old is a product of the Bristol Combination, having played for Cleve RFC, before moving on to Bath.

He made his Premiership debut for Harlequins – against previous club Bath – in October 2007 and has gone on to make 64 top-flight appearances to date.

Ten of those have come this season for Championship-bound Worcester, while he has also appeared in four cup matches for the Sixways side this term.

Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson said: “Chris has got plenty of experience and a real appetite to achieve success. He’s earned recognition with England Saxons, which is a testament to his attitude.

“We’re building a squad that we believe can compete at the top level – Chris’s addition adds another string to our bow.”

Brooker, who helped England Under-21s to a Grand Slam in 2006, said: “It’s a great time to be joining Bristol – I’m looking forward to my future here. I love the city and I know how passionate the supporters are in backing the club.

“There is plenty that I still want to achieve in my career – I am an ambitious character and hungry to do well. The vision of the club matches that.”
