BRISTOL Rugby have confirmed they have signed Andy Robinson’s son, Olly, from Moseley on a two-year deal.

The openside flanker, who has spent two seasons with Bristol’s fellow GKIPA Championship side, has started all 23 league matches for Moseley this season.

In a statement, Bristol said the 22-year-old would compete with Ross Rennie, Jack Lam and Redford Pennycook for the No 7 shirt next season.

Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson said: “Olly has shown a great attitude at Moseley and established himself in the Championship with consistently very good performances.

“We’re building a team with a vital blend of youth and experience – Olly’s arrival underlines that philosophy.

“If you look at the players we have brought in and the way the squad is shaping up, we have a group of players under the age of 24 who – in the future – can develop into regular Premiership performers.”

Formerly of Loughborough Students, highly-rated Robinson has also represented Gloucester and Northampton Saints in the JP Morgan Sevens Series.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play for Bristol and working hard to put myself in first-team contention,” he said.

“My game has really developed at Moseley and I’m grateful to the coaching staff because I’ve enjoyed my time there.

“Coming to Bristol is a fresh challenge and I’m excited about the prospect of continuing my development here and representing a fantastic club.”

Earlier today, Bristol confirmed the signings of hooker Chris Brooker and flanker Rennie, as well as a new one-year deal for hooker Rhys Lawrence.
