WALNEY Central coasted into the Barton Townley Cup semi-finals and a date with Ulverston after defeating Hindpool 64-12 in an 11-try romp at Central Drive.
Hindpool, stepping up a level, found the going tough against the Cumbria League champions as the Cents scored almost at will in a match attended by Barrow coach Bobbie Goulding.
Full-back Mike Elliott led the way with a fine hat-trick of tries.
The game was over as a contest on the half-hour mark, and the Cents went in at the break leading 34-0.
Hindpool rallied in the closing stages to put 12 points on the board with tries from Lee Boyd and Tony Rickelton with Callum Dale adding two conversions.
Other Walney tries came from Jamie and Danny Morrow, Dan Vial, Brad Nicholls, Matt Elliott, Dave Nicholson and the Finch brothers, Liam and James, who rounded off the scoring with a brilliant 40-yard burst down the middle to score by the posts.
Goals were shared by Mark McKinley, 5, Dave Nicholson, 4, and Jamie Morrow.
Craven Park will host the first Barton Townley semi-final this Friday (kick-off 7pm) when Barrow Island take on Dalton in what should be a tasty 80 minutes.
Earlier this month Dalton caused an upset in the Cumbria Cup by defeating Island at Kelland Park.
In the National Conference Millom played reasonably well despite their 46-18 defeat at Division One leaders Oulton Rangers.
The Wakefield side made it eight from eight while the Woollybacks still search for that elusive first win after seven defeats.
Tom Sibleyâs boys were in contention at the break trailing by four points at 16-12, only for the home side to step up a gear to run out comfortable winners.
Tries for Millom came from Jordan Moyes, Johny Hodgson, and Paul Evans with his trademark interception. He also added three conversions.
In Division Two Askam were out of sorts losing, 60-22 at Elland.
In the Cumbria League Barrow Island lost 42-4 at leaders Maryport after trailing 18-0 at half time, Jack Sutherland crossing for a late consolation try.
Roose Pioneers also lost in the west of the county going down 48-4 at Seaton.
Other Cumbria League results: Distington 26 Glasson 10, Cockermouth 26 Wath Brow A 20.
In the North West Menâs League Premier Division Ulverston went down 20-22 to Shevington despite a hat-trick of tries from Gareth Knowles.
In the Barrow and District League, Askam will meet Dalton in the Frank Reid Cup Final after disposing of Millom and Ulverston respectively.
Askam came back victorious from Devonshire Road winning 28-14 with tries coming from Joe Bell, Gareth Casson, Mike Richards, and Sam Broadley, 2, with Brad Jackson adding four conversions.
For Millom Chris Bagshaw, 2, and Steve Dawson crossed for tries with Jamie Mackie adding one goal.
Adam Nicholson went over for a hat-trick as Dalton saw off the challenge of Ulverston, the Kelland Park side running out winners 40-18.
Other tries came from Alistair McEwan, 2, Dan Richards, 2, and Ryan Birkby, with goals from Luke McIntee, 3, and Joe Braund-Smith.
Ulverston were in contention at the break trailing 14-12, only for Dalton to go up a gear to take control in the second half.
