Rugby League: Zak Hardaker apologises for World Cup fiasco

Hetherington said: “We believe Zak acted unprofessionally and, in doing so, breached the Leeds Rhinos’ player code of conduct. As a result, the club have issued him with a written warning and a fine of £2,500.”

Hardaker said: “I have paid a heavy price for my own actions and will now miss out on my dream of helping England win the World Cup.

“I am sorry for any embarrassment I have caused and my focus is now on putting these events behind me.”

England, who face Fiji in Hull on Saturday, have not called up a replacement.
