Leigh Halfpenny has Australia back on red alert ahead of Saturday’s Millennium Stadium showdown.

The Wallabies have not forgotten how Wales’ star full-back kicked the red-shirted Lions to series glory Down Under three months ago.

Halfpenny helped himself to a Lion series record 49 points across the three Tests, including a record 21 in the decider.

And Wallaby goal-kicker Christian Leali’ifano admitted: “Halfpenny is a fantastic all-round player.

“He’s proved throughout his whole career that he’s a sharp-shooter. If we give away penalties, he’s going to punish us.”

Aussie coach Ewen McKenzie echoed Leali’ifano’s concerns, adding: “We know the quality of their goal-kicking so we don’t need to be giving them any leg-up in that sense.”

* MIKE PHILLIPS looks set to be handed a lifeline in France – but only if he halts legal action against Bayonne.

Racing Metro are keen on the Wales and

Lions scrum-half and could sign him if he drops plans to sue Bayonne, who sacked him earlier this season for arriving drunk at a team meeting.
