The Leeds starâs partner Sophie gave birth to their son, Andre, in March and he has since enhanced his status as a centre of world-class repute.
Watkins, 22, said: âMy little lad is all grown up now, trying to walk and stuff, and itâs fantastic being a dad. My missus is a great mother too and Iâm looking forward to the future with them.
âItâs a dream come true having a little lad so young. I just want to do well for them both and make them proud.â
Watkins is spending most of his time at Englandâs training base at Loughborough University ahead of Saturdayâs quarter-final showdown with France in Wigan.
He added: âI probably see my son two or three times a week at the moment. But making sacrifices is part of being a rugby player and if you want to get to the top you have got to make them. Itâs something I have had to get used to, but being a dad gives me more of an incentive to challenge myself in these situations. It makes me want to do better than ever before.â
