England manager Roy Hodgson to use rugby union coach Dave Reddin to ...

Since 1990 England

have only won one penalty shoot-out — against Spain at Euro 96 — and have

gone out on penalties in six major tournaments. However, Hodgson rejected a

suggestion that his team should practice shoot-outs on the pitch immediately

after the forthcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany.

“I know someone had a suggestion of why not have penalty shoot-outs after

these games but we don’t intend to go down that route,” Hodgson said.

Reddin — who will be based at St George’s Park and report to the FA’s director

of elite development Dan Ashworth — will start his new role in January.
