It was a boys’ day out for David Beckham and his sons on Saturday, as they took in QBE International at Twickenham.
Wearing matching England rugby jerseys. David, Romeo and Cruz looked cute from the VIP box they were watching the home team take on Argentina from.
But behind his smile, the ex-footballer hid the heartache of losing his grandmother Peggy West earlier that week.
Distraction: David Beckham takes his sons Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo to watch the England rugby team play Argentina in the QBE International at Twickenham, following the death of his grandmother
The mother of David’s mum, Sandra Beckham, had suffered a stroke and passed away in the early hours of Friday morning, and the former Paris St. Germain player was said to be ‘absolutely devastated’.
The 85-year-old had already lost her husband, Joseph in 2009 and had been living in East London nursing home for the past two years.
David, 38, was very close to both his grandparents and seemed proud to take his grandmother with him to Buckingham Palace when he was awarded an OBE ten years ago.

Family support: David took his mind off things by taking his sons to a rugby match on Saturday
Keep on smiling: David put on a brave face for the match on Saturday afternoon
Last night, a source close to the footballer told The People: ‘He is absolutely devastated. He and Peggy were very close.
On Saturday, a friend of the ex-Real Madrid player added: ‘Peggy was suffering from a long illness, she’d had a stroke and was in hospital. She was on a life-support machine but sadly she died in the early hours of Friday morning.
‘David is really upset. He was extremely close to both Peggy and Joseph.’
The dad-of-four – spent most of his Saturdays at his grandparent’s house in London while his dad was working – was told the news on Friday and immediately comforted his mum, Sandra.
MailOnline has contacted David Beckham’s spokesperson for a comment.

To be almost 40 and still have a grandparent is pretty fortunate. I hope he was close to her and cared about her.

He should have been visiting his Grandmother on a regular basis whilst in the UK, not making surprise visits. I’m disappointed in you Mr Beckham.

So Mr Beckham’s grandmother died and this board is full of people having a dig at him and his family? You don’t have to love David Beckham to have a bit of decency, come on. It’s sad losing grandparents, especially when there are often so many happy childhood memories attached to them, as in this case.

Totally Agree with you Paul. All his money and he couldn’t even maybe pay for private care And saw her once, disgusting via a surprise visit…. Pathetic.
