Bath Rugby duo Davey Wilson and Rob Webber have been retained in the 27-man England squad for Saturday’s QBE International against Argentina at Twickenham (2.30pm).

Head coach Stuart Lancaster released ten players back their club’s this evening but front-row pair Wilson and Webber will remain at the training camp at Pennyhill Park as the team make their final preparations for the Pumas clash.

Prop Wilson came off the bench in England’s 20-13 victory over Australia on Saturday, while hooker Webber is on standby for Tom Youngs, whose wife is expecting their first child.

Lock Dave Attwood was also on the bench against the Wallabies but has been sent back to Bath after British Irish Lion Geoff Parling completed the graduated return to play from concussion protocol without complication.

Centre Kyle Eastmond and full-back Anthony Watson will also return to The Rec and are free to play in Bath’s LV= Cup opener at Sale Sharks on Friday.

Prop Alex Corbisiero has recovered from a knee injury and replaces Mako Vunipola, who suffered a knee ligament problem against the Wallabies.

The matchday 23-man squad will be announced at 10.45am on Thursday.

Lancaster said: “We have thoroughly reviewed the Australia game and we are determined to build on the momentum that victory has given us.

“Training today has been very intense and there is a massive competition because everyone is desperate to be in the team.

“There are a couple of changes to the squad with Geoff and Alex back and it’s great they are back in the mix. Mako is unfortunately struggling with a ligament strain to his knee and is not available for selection this week.

“We have named an extended squad as we need a further 24 hours to assess one or two minor niggles in the build-up to team announcement on Thursday morning.”

Bath duo Horacio Agulla and Eusebio Guinazu have both been named in the Argentina line-up for Saturday’s contest.

Agulla, who touched down in Bath’s Aviva Premiership win at Worcester Warriors on Friday, will start on the wing, with Guinazu at hooker. Juan Pablo Orlandi makes it three Bath players in the Pumas 23, with the prop named amongst the replacements.
