It’s Movember again – when men across the country convince themselves they’re being hilariously irreverent by having the audacity to grow a moustache.

It’s a one-month mission in the name of charity

of course – but there was a time when the moustache was a staple facial feature all year round… particularly on Welsh rugby fields.

Our rugby stars wore the moustache with a distinction rivalled by few others.

And, as our gallery shows, from Billy Bancroft to Phil Davies, they took the field with pride – years before Movember was even dreamt of.
