The book that changed my life
I am reading Tony Cascarino‘s book by Paul Kimmage at the moment and really enjoying it. I love Richard Branson‘s books, and failing that it’s hard not to be inspired by the wise words of 1) Ron Burgundy.
The quote that keeps me sane
I read a good quote yesterday, actually â “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken”, by Oscar Wilde.
The best advice I’ve ever received
A bit of a cliche, but “treat others as you wish to be treated”.
The film I’ve watched again and again
I’ve watched 2) ‘Gladiator’ so many times, but also love 3) ‘The Guard’ with Brendan Gleeson.
The song I want played at my funeral
Not very relevant for a funeral, but a good song from Christy Moore like ‘Lisdoon-varna’ or something by 4) Snow Patrol.
The scent that evokes pleasant memories
Cut grass reminds me of summer and great times I had growing up at home in Monaghan.
The piece of furniture that will become an heirloom
My super king-sized bed; as the saying goes, “always buy a good pair of shoes and a good bed because if you’re not in one you’re in the other”.
The picture that is worth a thousand words
A picture of me lined up for the anthem on my first cap for Ireland is one I will always treasure.
The item that takes pride of place in my wardrobe
My 5) XV Kings jacket that has had a serious amount of wear this winter.
The sentimental piece of jewellery
I don’t really wear jewellery.
The item I’d save in a fire
The watch we received after winning the Lions series this summer would be something I’d definitely want to take with me.
The characteristic I like most in myself
I don’t know, really. I hate these questions. I am a pretty relaxed person and tend not to take myself too seriously.
And least
In terms of a characteristic I don’t like, I am competitive, but it’s a requirement in my job.
My first kiss
Primary school; it was actually behind a bike shed.
The last time I cried
I’m not sure. I’d say the last time I watched ‘Marley and Me’.
It was the best of times
The day I sang ‘Black Velvet Band’ in front of the nation with a few drinks on board â we were celebrating winning the 2009 Grand Slam.
It was the worst of times
The day I sang ‘Black Velvet Band’ in front of the nation with a few drinks on board.
The person I call when things go pear-shaped
My parents.
My death row dinner
Probably a nice sirloin steak with mashed potatoes, peas and mayo.
Pet peeves
People who don’t thank you for letting them past when driving.
My four-legged friend
Myself and my girlfriend, Lucy, have a ginger cat called Molly.
