Rugby World Cup: Ireland to play Canada in 2015

Canada beat the United States to qualify in Ireland’s pool for the 2015 World Cup in England.

The Canadians clinched a 13-11 win in Toronto on Saturday to secure a 40-20 aggregate victory over the Americans in the two legs.

Ireland will play Canada in their Pool D opener on 19 September at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the only venue outside England.

The Irish will also face France, Italy and a European qualifier.

Tries from James Pritchard and Jason Marshall helped Canada to Saturday’s win at BMO Field.

“It is an amazing feeling to know that we will be there proudly representing Canada at the Rugby World Cup,” said Canada captain Aaron Carpenter.

“It caps an incredible year with more Test matches and Pacific Nations Cup inclusion. I am sure it will boost rugby interest here. I am really proud of the guys.”

The United States can still qualify for the tournament if they beat Uruguay in a play-off over two legs.
