Cornish Pirates rugby fire: Man held over arson

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at the Cornish Pirates rugby ground.

The alarm was raised just before 20:00 GMT and a large marquee was well alight when crews arrived at the Mennaye Field in Penzance.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said about 30 firefighters fought the blaze, which destroyed the marquee and spread to a HGV lorry.

No-one was injured and the rugby ground’s main stand was not damaged.
