BRISTOL Rugby have quickly followed up the signing of Dwayne Peel by confirming Bath prop Anthony Perenise will join them this summer.
The 31-year-old tighthead, who has 15 caps for Samoa, has appeared in 11 of Bathâs 12 Aviva Premiership matches so far this season â including starting Sundayâs 27-27 draw at Leicester.
Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson praised the attributes of former Hurricanes man Perenise, who has agreed a three-year contract with the club.
âStanding at 6ft and weighing in at 18 stone, Anthony is a formidable individual,â said Robinson. âHeâs a powerful scrummager with a great technical ability.
âAside from his obvious power, Anthony is quick and mobile â an attribute that weâve seen him display regularly at Bath.
âHeâll be a real asset to our pack next season and Iâm delighted weâve secured his services at Bristol Rugby.â
Perenise, whose signature had been coveted by a number of top-flight clubs, said he was attracted by Bristolâs ambition and attacking style of play.
âIâm delighted to be joining Bristol,â he said. âHaving met with Andy [Robinson] and Sean [Holley], I was impressed by their ambition and the determination to take the club forward.
âThe attacking style of rugby that Bristol have adopted is something that attracted me â it suits my game and the way I want to play.
âIâm looking forward to showing the supporters what I can do next season and am excited about a fresh challenge.â
