Bath Rugby fly-half George Ford will be named in the England EPS squad for the Six Nations, according to reports this morning.
The 20-year-old is expected to replace Toby Flood when England head coach Stuart Lancaster announces a revised squad tomorrow.
Uncapped Ford will be promoted from the England Saxons squad at the expense of his former Leicester Tigers colleague Flood, amid speculation he is set to join Toulouse at the end of the season.
Ford and Northampton Saintsâ Steven Myler were both in the running for Englandâs third fly-half spot alongside Owen Farrell and Freddie Burns.
However, Fordâs impressive display in the 27-27 Aviva Premiership draw against Leicester at Welford Road has secured his selection.
In his weekly BBC column, former England centre and Bath legend Jeremy Guscott backed Fordâs England credentials.
He said: âAt fly-half, Freddie Burns isnât playing well enough to keep his place in the EPS, and on form George Ford and Stephen Myler deserve the spot.
âWith Toby Flood likely to be left out if heâs admitted to Stuart Lancaster that heâs leaving English rugby to play in France, then both Ford and Myler should get in.
âFord and Myler have both played well enough to be the number two fly-half for the Six Nations â right now thereâs little to split these two.
âWith Ford offering more carrying the ball I would go for him as a different option who can change the game if Farrell isnât playing well or gets injured.â
