Greig Tonks is delighted to have kept his place in the Scotland squad after missing part of the season through injury.
The Edinburgh Rugby full back has seen Jack Cuthbert deputise in the Red and Black while he recovered from a hamstring injury.
Tonks though was given the nod to stake a claim for the national sideâs number 15 jersey.
He said: âI certainly didnât expect to be in the squad.
âIâve been injured for a couple of weeks but Iâd played quite a lot of rugby prior to that so Iâm really happy to be involved.â
With Stuart Hogg out of the autumn series against Australia, South Africa and Japan, Tonks hopes to get his chance to put in some impressive performances.
Asked if he was eyeing Hoggâs place in the team, Tonks said: âIâd love to do that â thatâs the plan.
âIn terms of selection I donât know whatâs going to happen so all I can do is play well [for Edinburgh] and try to impress the coaches.
âIf selected I will give it the best I can.â
