ILKESTON had to a settle for a 22-22 draw at home to Huntingdon District in Midlands One East.
The Elks led 17-5 at one stage and still held a seven-point advantage with four minutes remaining.
But a freak try denied them victory, when an Ilkeston player tried to kick the ball dead behind his own posts but it hit the crossbar and bounced kindly for the visitors to touch down and convert.
The result eased Huntingdon’s relegation worries, moving them seven points clear of third-bottom Matlock.
The Derbyshire side remain five points adrift of Paviors â and safety.
