On Saturday, as Ireland clashed with France in Paris, the team were mentioned more than 210,000 times on Twitter – according to the latest figures released by the social networking site in Dublin.
And special mention, literally, goes to the side’s retiring hero Brian O’Driscoll.
His final game in an Ireland jersey saw him become the talk of Twitter, with over 118,000 tweets dedicated to him – including some from his own teammates.

Hashtags like the simple #BOD, #thirteen and #thankyoubrian all featured throughout the weekend.
Yet more Twitter buzz surrounded another emotional farewell though – as Gordon D’Arcy finally parted company with his impressive beard!
His teammate Jonathan Sexton hadn’t exactly been a fan and, last month, warned it was getting shaved off if Ireland won their next three games in a row.
The dramatic 22-20 victory against France may have secured the Six Nations title, but it also sealed the fate of the beard …

And then there was that team ‘selfie’.
Forget the Oscars, the Ireland players created their own version with the team piling into the photo around the coveted trophy.
More than 7,500 people retweeted the image, with more than 5,000 marking it among their favourite tweets.
