Rugby Union: Top four is the target as Stoke eye flying finish

STOKE still have designs on a top-four finish in Midlands One West as the season heads into the final stages.

Chris Rowley’s side are currently in fifth place, but have four matches left to make up the five-point gap to Walsall, who are a place above them.

Stoke make the visit to Barkers Butts tomorrow, looking to keep their challenge on track.

IN Midlands Two West North, STAFFORD play host to fourth-placed Bridgnorth.

Stafford have enjoyed a decent run of form, which has enabled them to gradually pull clear of danger.

Bridgnorth will be licking their wounds, however, after losing the Midlands Cup final to Leek in the last minute on Saturday.

LOCAL sides in Midlands Three West North have little to play for in the remaining weeks of the season as they bob around in mid-table.

NEWCASTLE, UTTOXETER and ECCLESHALL are in sixth, seventh and eighth respectively heading into the closing weeks of the campaign.

Newcastle could conceivably end the season in fourth and will leapfrog Edwardians, in fifth, if they manage to beat them at home tomorrow.

Uttoxeter have enjoyed a solid year since winning promotion and they play host to high-flying Burntwood at Oldfields.

Eccleshall appear to have the toughest assignment on their hands as they hit the road to Shrewsbury.

The Shrews are in second place in the table, although they remain nine points adrift of runaway leaders Veseyans.
