While the likes of Chris Ashton and Chris Robshaw were given the summer off Stuart Lancaster took a young and inexperienced squad to Argentina for a two-Test series.
Morgan was particularly impressive for England in their victorious tour but the likes of Marland Yarde and Matt Kvesic made such an impression that they were this month selected in Lancasterâs new EPS.
And Morgan, who got injured during Englandâs RBS 6 Nations campaign this year and missed the decisive defeat to Wales, is confident that the new blend of youth and experience will bring great rewards.
âA few new lads fitted straight into the squad and did really well in Argentina,â Morgan said from Englandâs training camp at Loughborough University.
âEveryone wants to stay in the frame and there will be a lot of competition for places for the autumn and I am always a big believer that the more competition you have, the better it is.
âThere was a really good spirit in Argentina â a bit like a club feel to it. You canât be away that long without building the camaraderie and I think our team spirit really increased. You could feel it straight away when we all reported back this week, too.
âWe really want to keep that momentum going. The World Cup might still be two years away but in reality there arenât that many games between now and then so everyone really needs to be pushing.
âIâm really excited about the autumn Tests â Australia will be tough, Argentina will want to bounce back after what happened in the summer, as will New Zealand after our victory over them at Twickenham [last December]
âLike us, all these teams will be thinking about the World Cup already and no one likes losing. Teams build confidence with victories and we want to maintain that winning momentum.”
