JONNY Mayâs dislocated elbow should only keep him sidelined for a month.
The England wing suffered a painful dislocation in Gloucesterâs 42-17 defeat in Toulon on Friday, August 9.
â
Gloucester medics feared the nasty injury would keep him out of action for an extended run.
But rugby director Nigel Davies has revealed the Swindon-born pace ace could be back in action in as little as four weeks.

Bruising wing Shane Monahan has not been so lucky however.
The Irish powerhouse suffered a dislocated shoulder in the Toulon clash at Stade Mayol â and Davies confirmed he will miss three to four months.
Davies also revealed that All Black scrum-half Jimmy Cowan is fit for action in Saturdayâs pre-season trip to Munster (kick-off 5pm, Thomond Park), where James Simpson-Daniel will also feature.
Cowan was expected to find fitness in the first month of the season, after undergoing knee ligament repair surgery last term.
But the 31-year-old is back ahead of schedule, and in the match squad for the weekendâs Limerick trip.
Simpson-Daniel has battled since last term to recover from shoulder surgery, but is now ready for his keenly-anticipated return.
The stealthy try-scorerâs fitness is especially timely given the injuries to May and Monahan.
Gloucester boss Davies revealed the injury news at Tuesday nightâs annual Meet The Players evening, organised by rugby charity Wooden Spoon.
Davies explained: âJonny did dislocate his elbow and that is extremely painful.
âItâs one of the more painful injuries to deal with.
âBut he was perhaps fortunate in the fact that the joint went straight back in.
âThat has made his recovery a lot more straightforward than we had initially anticipated.
âSo obviously it was a cruel blow for Jonny to suffer the injury, but heâs now recovering well and hopefully will be back fit in about four weeks.
âItâs not such good news for Shane unfortunately.
âHe will miss three to four months, and thatâs a real blow.
âHeâd started off well out in Toulon, and itâs just horrible timing for him.
âThere are a few more complications with his injury than with Jonny, so he will be out for a while.â
Davies and new forwards coach Andrew Stanley fielded questions on everything from the new scrum laws to the pre-seasonâs mental toughening regimes.
Then it was the turn of Gloucesterâs six new recruits to take questions from the assembled crowd, in Kingsholmâs 1873 suite.
Dan George and Johnny Bentley admitted they have found themselves in awe of the Kingsholm crowd in the past, and cannot wait to experience the other side of the coin, running out in Gloucester colours.
Matt Kvesic tipped his cap to the comic genius of elder Kingsholm statesmen Will James and Andy Hazell, while James Hudson admitted he has already fallen foul of strength and conditioning guru Paddy Ansonâs strict no dancing in the gym rule.
Tom Hicks paid tribute to Gloucesterâs determination to push homegrown youngsters to the very top of the domestic game and beyond.
And scrum-half Tavis Knoyle admitted he will have a fight on his hands to establish a long-term future at Kingsholm â but would love nothing more than to stay with the Cherry and Whites for years to come.
As ever the night offered a mix of business and banter, with Gloucester coaches and players generous with their time, insight and humour.
