High price of a brutal game for England rugby team

Tuilagi’s absence is a spanner in the works for the meticulous planning of England head coach Stuart Lancaster, who has also lost Brad Barritt and Tom Croft in recent days – but he can hardly be surprised.


Injuries are increasing at an alarming rate and it is something the sport must address seriously.


The clear and present danger in the professional era of scientific diets, intensive training and congested fixture lists is that rugby is becoming too brutal for its own good.
