Wade & Kvesic to make England debut vs Pumas

England have named Christian Wade and Matt Kvesic in their team to play Argentina this weekend at Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena in Salta on Saturday.

Twenty-one-year-old London Wasps wing Wade and twenty-two-year-old Worcester Warriors flanker Kvesic will be making their debuts against the Pumas

Three more players – Bath Rugby centre Kyle Eastmond, Sale Sharks prop Henry Thomas and London Wasps back row forward Billy Vunipola – will also make their first Test appearances if they come off the replacements bench.

Fly half Freddie Burns (Gloucester Rugby), hooker Rob Webber (Bath Rugby) and lock Dave Attwood (Bath Rugby) all start a capped international for the first time.

Head Coach Stuart Lancaster said, “It’s always a great pleasure to award someone their first caps and Christian and Matt, as well as the three uncapped players on the bench, deserve their chance against the Pumas because of their form and hard work this season for their clubs and with us.

“This is a young England side but one with a great deal of ability and self-belief that has bonded well in the time we’ve been together at home and in Uruguay and Argentina.

“Facing Argentina in front of their home crowd in Salta will be a challenge but I’m sure it’s one this team will relish.”
