BRISTOL Rugby have landed a major coup ahead of next season by signing Hurricanes flanker Jack Lam on a two-year deal.
The outstanding 26-year-old, who has won five caps for Samoa, has impressed for the Wellington-based Super Rugby side since making his debut in 2011.
The arrival of Lam, who has made 37 Super Rugby appearances for Hurricanes, is viewed as a significant signing by the Bristol hierarchy.
Director of rugby Andy Robinson praised Bristolâs owners, headed by Steve Lansdown, for their role in persuading an international player to leave Super Rugby before he has reached his peak.
âJack is a major coup for the club and weâre pleased to have secured his services,â said Robinson.
âHeâs an uncompromising tackler and a physical ball-carrier who can scare opposition defenders.
âTo be able to attract international players of Jackâs quality underlines what we are trying to do at Bristol and the vision of the clubâs owners.â
Lam will join fellow Samoans David Lemi and Anthony Perenise at Bristol next season â and the formidable back-rower hailed the clubâs potential ahead of his move.

âBristol is a Club with huge ambitions which match my own. I want to test myself against the best players in the Northern Hemisphere â I am confident I can do that at Bristol.
