NEWLYN’S Jack Nowell and Exeter Chiefs team-mate Tom Johnson have both been named in the 33-man England Saxons EPS squad announced by Head Coach Stuart Lancaster.
The full-back, who was deployed on the wing by the Chiefs at the end of last term, has been included in the Saxons squad for the first time, having helped the England under-20s win the IRB Junior World Championship in June.
â
His selection caps a remarkable year for the 20-year-old, who made his Premiership debut for Exeter in November against London Irish. After establishing himself as a regular in the Chiefs first team, Nowell was nominated for and won the LV=Breakthrough Player Award for the 2012/13 season.
A product of the Cornish Pirates junior section, he was a student at Mounts Bay School and then Truro College.

Nowell is joined in the Saxons squad by Exeter flanker Johnson, who drops down from the senior EPS squad. He is replaced by former Devon junior Matt Kvesic.
Commenting on Nowellâs inclusion into the Saxons ranks, Lancaster said: âJack played well for his club, he played well for England, heâs an exciting young player and the sooner we get him into the squad and start working with him, the better.â
The Saxons will face the Ireland Wolfhounds and Scotland A early next year.
