Saracens fullback Alex Goode has targeted an October return from the injury which ruled him out of England’s June tour to Australia.
Goode suffered a tear in his shoulder before Christmas but he played on for Saracens and helped them to the Heineken Cup semi-final. But after consulting the England and Saracens management, Goode opted to have surgery on his shoulder.
The process happened with a view for Goode being fit in time for the autumn internationals and he is optimistic he will be back in action before the first game against Argentina on November 2.
“I had been troubled by the shoulder injury last season and it was decided that having the reconstruction this summer would be the best option to ensure it is no longer an issue,” Goode told the Evening Standard. “I have a rehabilitation programme to follow and although I will miss the start of the season, I hope to be back in action by October.”
