Biggleswade Rugby Club Secure ã38,000 Sport England Grant
Biggleswade Rugby Club has secured Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Sport England has revealed a number of projects across the country to benefit from the funding as part of the Olympic legacy.
âBiggy’ will use the funding to complete phase one of a refurbishment of the clubhouse and facilities. The club house was built in 1975 and over the years has helped thousands of youngsters and adults get in to both rugby and squash. The funding will allow for a complete refurbishment of the Lounge Bar area including new windows, ceiling, flooring, lighting, a new bar area and new furnishings. In addition to this, the funding will allow the squash viewing area to be upgraded. The gentleman’s rugby changing room toilets will also be totally renewed.
The club acknowledge the huge amount of work done by Chairman Steve âStan’ Matthews and Graham Simpson from teamBEDSLUTON who are the strategic lead for sport in Bedfordshire.
Sport England Chair Nick Bitel commented “A year on from the Olympics, this National Lottery Investment is helping use deliver a lasting sporting legacy in Biggleswade”. He added that with investment now on offer until 2017 Sport England look forward to supporting more clubs in Bedfordshire like Biggleswade Rugby Club who play such a vital role in grass roots sport.

Biggleswade Rugby Union Football Club Associated Clubs, to give its full title, is one of 300 projects across England receiving lottery investment from the fourth round of the Inspired Facilities fund and one of more than 1300 to benefit overall.
Many more communities are set to benefit from the hugely popular fund after Sport England announced an additional £40 Million of national Lottery funding.
