SEVEN players will make their competitive debuts for Bristol in this afternoon’s GKIPA Championship season opener against Worcester Warriors at Ashton Gate – while David Lemi returns to the Bristol ranks after five years away.

A further two players – Craig Hampson and Gareth Maule – could make their club bows from the bench, as Bristol begin a new era at Ashton Gate.

Director of rugby Andy Robinson hands maiden starts to summer recruits Matthew Morgan, Dwayne Peel, Jack O’Connell, Anthony Perenise, Ian Evans and Jack Lam, while Max Crumpton starts at hooker after another newcomer, Chris Brooker, withdrew through injury.

Lemi starts against previous club Worcester as he begins his second spell with Bristol – and will make his 90th first-team appearance for the club.

Worcester, relegated from the Aviva Premiership after winning only two league matches last season, name Chris Pennell as captain. Today’s match kicks off at 2.40pm.
