Wales: Three games against the Springboks looming

Wales have revealed they will play South Africa three times this year after confirming the remainder of their 2014 fixture list.

Warren Gatland’s team will head to South Africa in the summer for their first post-Six Nations Tests, facing the Springboks in Durban on Saturday June 14 and Nelspruit on Saturday June 21.

The Welsh Rugby Union has also announced a demanding autumn programme that will see Wales host 2015 World Cup pool opponents Australia, Fiji, world champions New Zealand and finally South Africa.

WRU group chief executive Roger Lewis said: “We have consistently said if you want to be the best, you have to play the best.

“And to have the IRB’s top three-ranked sides – New Zealand, South Africa and Australia – visiting the Millennium Stadium, along with Pacific Island nation Fiji, in the Dove Men Series this autumn reconfirms that commitment.

“Our stated aim has been to take every opportunity to test ourselves at the highest level and give the squad the very best preparation available for the challenges ahead.”

June 21 – South Africa (Nelspruit)
