Edinburgh Rugby have signed up Matt Scott to an extended deal that keeps him with the capital club until 2016.
The 22-year-old rising star committed to Alan Solomonsâ men as he prepares to win his 20th international cap against France this weekend.
Scott joins fellow Scotland caps David Denton, Al Dickinson and Greig Tonks in extending his deal with Edinburgh.
He said: âIâve made life-long friends at the club over the past few years and itâs good that weâre keeping a good core of guys that know how much it means to play for Edinburgh.
âThat was key for me and Iâm happy to be one of those guys and be part of building the club going forward.
âThe coaches run a very tight ship. Thereâs no ambiguity about the way they want us to play or the standards they set.
âAs a young player developing thatâs the kind of place I want to be.â
Solomons was delighted to keep the highly-rated centre on his book and declared the deal as âincredibly good newsâ for Edinburgh.
The South African head coach said: âMatt is an outstanding young talent who has now established himself at international level.
âItâs great to have a Scottish player of that calibre commit himself to the future of this club. I think it speaks volumes and sends out a very positive message.
âMatt is an exceptional athlete. He is a physical and powerful player who runs good lines and presents a real threat to the opposition.
âThe time is probably right for him to play a greater role in the broad leadership group within the club and I think he will have much to offer in that regard, partularly for young aspiring Scottish players.â
