Rugby Union: Sam Warburton eyeing historical treble

Sam Warburton

But even with 11 British Lions in the side and George North’s try after just 69 seconds, they could not end their Wallaby hoodoo.

Christian Leali’ifano, Isreal Folau and Joe Tamone all scored as Australia stunned the Millennium Stadium with 20 unanswered points during a 16-minute blitz either side of half-time, masterminded by man-of-the-match Quade Cooper.

Wales were also fuming after Wayne Barnes awarded the Wallabies third try despite replays showing Folau’s scoring pass was forward.

Dan Lydiate said: “It’s a kick in the nuts. We showed great spirit but we’re gutted.”
